Dell Webcam/Video Chat not working with Windows 7

I just purchased a Dell Inspiron laptop that was configured for WIndows Vista. The store I bought it from updated it to Windows 7. The system seems to be running fine, except for the Webcam and Video Chat functions. Neither program will start, and when I attempt to start Dell Webcam Center, my computer shuts off and I get a blue error message stating that the Webcam is not compatible with Windows 7. Is there a driver I can download to fix this?

The first thing to try is to install the Webcam software from the disk that came with the computer.

If that doesn't work, then go to Drivers & Downloads, enter your service tag number and download the Vista drivers. Install the Vista drivers in the compatibility mode. The webcam drivers will be found under input devices.

Right click on the drivers file, left click properties, left click compatibility. Change the compatibility to Vista. Then right click on the drivers, left click run as administrator.

I'm having the same problem.  I bought a laptop from Dell & it crashed after my warranty expired so I had to re-purchase my Window program which was an upgrade to Windows 7 & now my webcam & video chat won't work.  My laptop didn't come with any reinstallment disc for webcam but my friend let me borrow his & it still doesn't work.  I'm thinking because his is campatible with Windows Vista and I have Windows 7.  What can I do?
