Dell XPS 14 L421X Graphics card problem

Question

I just recently purchased this dell xps 14 l421X ultrabook laptop. Core i7, 8gb, Nvidia gt630m, preloaded with windows 8 professional 64bit and standard bios A12. This problem has occurred ever since I first switched the laptop on. The first time I booted the laptop on I noticed the windows aero theme was not working, I initially thought this was just a setting problem but could not find the setting to allow this (where it usually is and Aero has Since not worked ever - which was strange to me) I then ran a windows system rating and was surprised that the ratings were so low 4.4 graphics and 5.5 gaming graphics. (Not for a new laptop with decent graphics, even the intel hd 4000 alone should have gotten a higher score I presume) I then thought it was a driver issue and resorted to installing the latest and various drivers off the dell and nvidia website's and periodically trying to so system ratings with no difference result and doing a clean installs, this too did not work. I ran dell video card diagnostics and it only picked up the intel hd 4000 card, when I disabled the intel hd4000 card the diagnostics test would run. I disabled the intel hd4000 and tried right clicking and running with gpu processor and tried opening a video game, diablo 3 and the beginning screen(where you input email address and password) lagged incredibly like I have never seen before and was very slow completely as if the graphics was a 32mb card (way worse than simply a intel hd3000 which I have tried on an older pc) I lastly installed Nvidia System tools with Esa support and it Shows the graphics card and gives all the options and information about it but the graphics card just does not work at all. Period. And meanwhile the laptop shows the Nvidia card in device manager and says it is working fine. So my only conclusion is this is a motherboard fault with the graphics cards as they both do not function correctly and have not ever functioned since I opened and took the laptop out of the box? windows was never reinstalled or anything, this is the standard bios a12 and windows 8 professional 64bit that came preloaded on the laptop. I was not doing anything funny or anything at all. perhaps I am very unlucky, But if there is a solution which I could do, I would prefer than taking ages sending it to dell etc. pictures below.
