The memory modules are soldered on the motherboard. It cannot be upgraded as a separate module. The motherboard needs to be replaced. Please let me know why exactly do you want to replace the memory modules in this system.
The pre-boot thorough diagnostic checks reports all systems OK.
The system boots and enters the Windows 8 activation procedure but after 30 seconds or so the screen goes gobbledygook, a range of colours with the outline of the original screen in the background.
See if you can get a good image on an external monitor. If you can, it might be a cable or LCD issue. If not, whether RAM, CPU or video chip issue, the mainboard has to be replaced. All of those components are permanently affixed to the mainboard.
Check the LCD in the BIOS Setup. To enter the computer BIOS Setup, restart the computer and at the Dell logo screen, tap until the message Entering Setup appears.
Connect an external monitor (if available) to the laptop and check if the screen of the external display does the same thing.
If you observe the same issue on the setup screen or during the LCD Bist, it is not an issue with the Operating System, it is a hardware issue. For more details please check the article on Resolving Laptop LCD Lines, Fuzzy, Color, or Blurry Issues.
Please try the steps and write back to us would be glad to assist further.

You can't - like many ultrabooks these days, the RAM is soldered to the system board. RAM cannot be removed or upgraded on this model.

I just thought it may be a RAM issue.
Any help much appreciated.
