Dell XPS13 display not working only backlight
Hi,
I have a Dell XPS13 purchased a couple of months ago, this morning the when I started the latop the display is not working. I can see the backlight comming up when I boot it but nothing else.
The external display works and all other components seem to function properly.
Did anyone else had this problem?

Hi,
I've ended up opening the back lid and unpluging and pluging back the battery and monitor cable.
After that the problem was fixed.
Hope is stays that way, because Dell support in my country is the last think you want to call.

Sounds like there may be a broken wire in the harness that goes to the display. Have you contacted Dell?

Hi,
Unfortunately the issue is back, and this time simple disconecting the battery did not helped, I think the problem is the cable, I've found one on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Dell-VKWJC-Cable-DD018BLC010-L322X/dp/B00N291LBS/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1419347195&sr=1-1&keywords=L322X+VKWJC.
How can I open the display and replace it?

It is all but impossible to disassemble the display panel in this model - it's fused together with adhesive.
First thing to verify is that the system displays a good image on an external monitor. If it does not, it's likely a bad mainboard, not the display panel.
If the cable truly does need replacement, the entire top half of the system (display panel, back cover, bezel/glass and cables) needs to be replaced.

Hi,
Thanks for your answer, the external display works, I am actually using it right now.
It looked to me that the display is glued together, but by finding that connector on amazon I thought it will be possible to replace it somehow.
To bring a new display over here it will cost me around 650$, really expensive.
Another think that I've noticed is that I can tilt the display all the way back, it did not used to allow me to do this, do you think this is causing the issue?

A followup for this issue,
I've got around on replacing the screen and I have the same issue :(
From time to time only the backlight will work on the build in display and no other image is outputed, the external display port works.
Can some think of what else could be wrong with it?
