I am having an identical problem and look forward to a solution. The buttons actually did work for me straight out of the box but after I updraded the service pack and security updates, both of those buttons no longer work.

OK, found a resolution after talking to tech support for a while. Control Point needs to be updated.

It is the Dell ControlPoint System Manage, release 3/10/2009, version 1.2.00000,A10, Hard-Drive version, at 41mb.

I hope you can find it. I wasn't able to paste a link in here.

Chris.

same issue here, related to corporate use of another wireless connection manager I believe. You can rotate screen using with up/down/right or left keys. I still would like the button to work, but at least I can use in portrait mode; gotta pick my battles!

I need to ask simply "Do I really need to install the ControlPoint system software to use the CTRL / Windows Security button and the Screen rotate button on the front of the display?"  I mean I know Dell recommends it but I'm trying to avoid installing extra software on my E6500 and X2 software images.

I'm using XP Pro SP3 for the E6500 laptops and XP Tablet for the X2 tablets for the operating system images.

I agree with MikeWolf... I would like to find a way to be able to use my XT2 tablet buttons without installing the Control Point software... Any information would be appreciated, Thanks.

I tried this and it didn't work.  The On button is the only one  on the face of the tablet that works.  I am sorely missing my scroll up/down toggle button!

Thanks a lot for this workaround to rotate the display orientation...this works for me...I guess this provides a way to sidestep having to install Dell Control Point

Can you explain what the workaround was?  I cannot seem to find in this thread.  Thanks!

Unfortunately, when I once again needed to reinstall another XT2, the "new" drivers for  control point didn't resolve this issue for me. So I too am back to the drawing board. I would install the build version that originally worked, but I can't find it anywhere. For the time being, the ctrl+alt+arrow keys are the only way to rotate the screen. Sorry. Chris.

I installed this today in Windows 8.1 x64 and it works fine.  I downloaded the latest file and EXTRACTED it when it asked.  Then I went to the folder and right-clicked to change the "Compatibility Mode" to "Previous Versions of Windows".  Then click on the file to install.  Works like a charm, but my only gripe is it doesn't flip it to landscape mode, only to portrait.  Still have to do this manually if I want to use the tablet function because of the location of the power plug.

HOPE THIS HELPS!
