Dell xps m1730 Maximum specs? Help?
I plan on getting an xps m1730 soon, im not looking to play modern games on it for I have an xbox for that, rather ill be using it for computer only games like LoL and things of that nature, that being said, the model im looking at has the following specs
- Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.6GHz
- 2GB DDR2 RAM
- 500GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
- 17-Inch Screen, GeForce GT
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional
- GeForce 8700m gt (512 mb)
So heres what I want to know, I want to upgrade the ram and the video card, and im being told that the maximum ram and video card are too many different thing, some people say it can handle 4 gb (2gbx2) of ram and some people say it can handle 8 gb (4gbx2) of ram, so which one is it? Now for the video card, theres two video card that caught my eye, first was the "DELL K650M NVIDIA 9800M GTX 2GB XPS M1730 VIDEO CARD" now ive been told that the dell xps m1730 doesn't support this graphics card, but at the same time the name of the computer model is in the graphics card, so which one is it? will I be able to get this graphics card or will I have to settle for a "Dell XPS M1730 1GB SLI Video Graphics Card 86CR5 8800m GTX?"
Id seriously appreciate accurate information about this, I dont want to spend an extra $150 on ram and video cards that dont work.

Yes, few are correct, Maximum Memory that an XPS M1730 can support is 8GB (4GBx2)
Video Cards that an XPS M1730 can support are:
NVIDIA® GeForce Go® 8700M GT
NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX
NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GT
NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTX
Please ensure that you should install a 64bit Operating System to support 8GB Ram.

I appreciate it, I likely will just get 4 gb of ram since im not trying to play anything too serious, I will get the 9800m gtx tho. Thanks a lot.
