Hi Angus.Wrightson,

I will suggest you to uninstall the drivers for the graphics from the ‘Device Manager’ and then reinstall the drivers. The steps to uninstall the drivers are:

  • Press ‘Windows’ key + R on ‘Desktop’ screen 
  • Type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in run box and press ‘Enter’
  • In ‘Device Manager’, click > sign next to ‘Display Adapters’ to expand the option.
  • Right click on the entry for Graphic card and click on ‘Uninstall’

To install the drivers, click on the link http://dell.to/15SXUrS and select the operating system from the drop down.

If you have the both the Intel and AMD cards, install the Intel Graphics driver first and then install the AMD driver.

Hi Angus.Wrightson,

As you have mentioned that the system crashes while running diagnostics, the issue seems to be related to the hardware.

I will suggest you to run the onboard diagnostics. The steps are.

  • Shut down and restart the computer.
  • Press the F12 key immediately when the Dell logo appears. The Boot Device list appears.
  • Select Diagnostics and press the Enter key.

Also, please share the exact system model and operating system.

Hi , thanks for replying so quick. I have performed on-board diagnostics multiple times with no errors or problems showing. my Laptop is a Dell Inspiron 7520 SE, purchased December 2012.

Wow! Thank you so very much. This fixed my problem. Do you have any idea how this problem may have occurred in the first place?
