Disable Ambient Light Sensor on M3800

The ambient light sensor on my M3800 seems to Think the room is darker than what it actually is, so the display is Always too dark, even if I turn the display brightness to maximum. I cannot find a way to turn off the sensor, not even in the bios. Can somebody please tell me how or if it is even possible? I'm on windows 8.1 Thanks for any help!

You're looking for the "adaptive brightness" adjustment. I turned it off as soon as I could find it. Go to Control Panel/Power Options/Change plan settings/Change advanced power settings. This should bring up the main Power Options window. Scroll down to Display and open to see "Enable adaptive brightness." There you can turn on and off for battery/plugged in.
