Seeing that you already fiddled with the resolutions I can only suggest you try Fn+F7.

If the above fails then I suggest you uninstall the video driver then reinstall it.

I've tried Fn and most buttons....I've tried re-installing the driver and getting latest driver from ATI.  I've also reported to ATI and they don't support laptops!
 
I also tried changing the display resolution to the maximum 1640 x something and this went full screen but now the icons etc are that much smaller.  I just want to get back to full screen with 1280 x 768.  Any thoughts?

Thanks for the solution!  My screen size shrunk when I started to reinstall the operating system on my laptop.  The reduced size appeared as the reinstall cd opened!  I could not figure what caused this problem.

Since Dell as become so "stingy" with support, all of us who use the Dell product need to share our knowlege and experience to help each other where Dell is now lacking!

I really appreciate the help!!!

while playing a game my battery died on me and when i plugged in the notebook the screen had shrunk an inch on both sides. how do i fix this?
