E5500 power on issues
My Latitude E5500 has recently developed a power on issue, when I press the power switch the three Padlock symbols start flashing and nothing else happens, further pressing the power switch turns the laptop off and then when pressed again it starts the symbols flashing again. If left like this they will eventually go solid lit and then pressing the power button will simply start them flashing again.
If I persevere with trying to switch it on after several attempts it will eventually start but only after I have disconnected the mains power from either the docking station or the laptop direct, am not sure if this is another symptom or just coincidence, have tried an initial starup just on battery power but same sequence of events occur. Once it has eventually powered up eveything appears to working normally.

im confused on your post if the light blink all of them how do you get the labtop to power onto windows? just by letting it sit or what? please go into detail

Once I get the symptom of the three lights blinking I disconnect the mains power from the docking station (or direct to the laptop) hit the power button and it then starts up normally. When I am trying to start up operating on battery I get the same issue with the three blinking padlock symbols until I plug mains back in try to power it on again, still get the three padlock symbols blinking and then if disconnect the mains and try to power on again it starts up normally, as in goes through a normal windows load. I have run both the short and long pre boot test and everything passed.
I am guessing it has something to do with the internal power supply but don't know what, if I plug mains back into it once it starts to load windows everything is fine, the battery is being charged and everything works normally, it appears that it needs that change between mains and battery supply to get past the three blinking padlock symbols.
