E6400 audio stutter / noise XP
As I continue to add software layers to my new E6400, I wanted to share that the audio problems mentioned in this forum many times started for me after I added one or more of Audible software, a Netcom GN950 audio headset device that comes with it's own mixer, Goldwave s/w, and other things that are not obviously audio related.
I resolved it (so far) just by turning off Powermizer in the Nvidia settings.

yes, i've also solved audio skipping/sound shutter by reinstalling the E6400 intel sata drivers on 32bit vista.
go http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/format.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&deviceid=11530&libid=41&releaseid=R190228&vercnt=1&formatcnt=0&SystemID=lat_e6400&servicetag=3PK334J&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=-1&impid=-1
i've now installed 8.2.2.1001 driver revision A03 and it's working flawlessly... i was almost sure, that i'm going to dump this notebook to trash, but after this i am starting to get a bit satisfied with it =))
after unpacking R190228 update do disk c:\dell\driver\r190228 go to device manager (control panel > device manager in vista or control panel > system > hardware > device manager on xp), then go to storage controllers, there are two of them... microsoft iscsi and some intel... double click the intel go to driver tab and click update driver, then browse my computer for driver software - fill in the location - should be C:\dell\drivers\R190228 then click next and finish or whatever the prompts are... you also have to restart the computer afterwards.

Please tell me how to install the matrix storage driver. I can install the application since it's self executable. But the driver is just a bunch of files. I tried to go to the divice manager and update the hard disk's driver manually, but windows says it's not the driver for the disk. So what is this driver for? And how can I install it. Because I have the same audio problem with E6400.!!

you must update controller driver not a hard disk driver. it's under storage controllers in device manager... pick that with intel in it's name...
also the latest driver does not work again (as of today) use 8.2.2.1001 driver revision A03 (R190228)

Had the same problem with E6400 ATG running Windows XP. Fixed it by installing the Intel Matrix Storage Manager Application (not the driver) from Dell Support website - try typing "R218081" in the search box to get a link to v.8.8.0.1009, A05, uploaded 23/04/2009.
No audio stutter after a reboot - didn't install the driver so think the Application must do that.
