E6530 - RAM 1x8G or 2x8G

Hello,

I've seen a post on E6520 max ram, but my configuration is different than that post.

I have a i5-3210M 2.50Ghz and 4Go, running on a 32 bits system. I want to max out my ram capacity.

Looking at the specs of my laptop, it says that i can only upgrade to 1x8Go or 2x8Go via the CFI service.

I don't really understand the CFI. But from what i understood, if i don't have that option, i can't upgrade to 16Go. Am i mistaking?

How to bypass it?

Thank you for your help.

Hi TC018,

If you're using a 32bit O/S then the amount of memory available will be below 4Gb, due to the limitations of the Operating System. If you want to upgrade the memory then I'd suggest installing a 64bit O/S.

With regards upgrading to 16Gb memory; The E6520 supports up to 8Gb made up of 2*4Gb DIMMS. I have seen some users manage to get 16Gb to work in the systems, but there's no guarantee it will work and we wouldn't support that amount of memory. Any issues arising from upgrading to 16Gb would be down to yourself to resolve.
