Suamere, I have the same problem. Dell XPS 15 running 3200x2800 display settings connected to a 1920x1080 22" monitor, background appears fine but all applications and icons look to be 800x600 and it is basically unusable. Any help from Dell to fix this issue? It almost appears as if the computer doesn't know how to work between the differences in display ratio, since it wants the 22" monitor to be 1920x1440 not 1920x1080. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you ever get a response/resolution to your screen resolution issues? I have a new XPS 13 and am having a similar problem, as well as a problem with the Intel Graphics Controller. This is how I described my problems to Dell Support, but have not yet received a solution:

My My Intel HD Graphics Control Panel is not detecting the external monitor (Dell U2412M) that is connected to my computer via the Dell 4-in-1 adapter (DA100). Therefore, I cannot use the Intel app as it should be able to control the computer’s graphics output. I checked the adapter and graphics drivers, and they are both up-to-date.

2.    I normally use the external monitor in Extended Desktop mode. When I move a window from the computer display to the monitor and then back to the computer display, the scaling of the moved object is totally changed, e.g., a window that originally filled one-third of the computer display completely fills the display when it is moved back from the monitor to the computer. This makes it very difficult to work with the external monitor.

       Any help would be appreciated.
