Hard Drive DST short test fail. Error code 2000-0142
I have a Dell Inspiron 3520 laptop, the laptop was not booting to win8 for a few days.
Tried all the steps i could to get the laptop to boot into windows but to no avail.
At last when i tried the system diagnostics from the BIOS the hard drive threw up the error
**Hard Drive 0- DST Short Test**
Test Results : Fail
Error Code : 2000-0142
Validation 126852
Msg: Hard drive 0 - S/N woV1J5NW. Long self Test unsuccessful.

my laptop is still under warranty.
Any help would be appreciated.

Error code: 2000-0142 indicates that the hard drive has encountered failure and it has to be replaced. I’d be glad to assist you in getting part replaced.

No, it won't. The hard drive has failed and must be replaced.

try to install windows 7 again. it will work
