Help! Blue Line on my screen.
There is a blue vertical line on my screen and I'm terrified that the rest of my screen is going to stop working. Does anyone know how to fix this, or if my fear about the whole screen failing is a reasonable fear? This is my second Dell laptop (first failed because it was a lemon), and I cannot afford another one! If there's any way I can prevent my computer from dying, PLEASE let me know! Plus, my warranty has expired, so I'm really desperate.
Thanks.

If the line appears on an external monitor, it's a vidoe chip/card fault.
If it doesn't, it's a panel fault. Unfortunately, single-line faults cannot be repaired - the panel will need to be replaced.

It's my laptop, so I guess that means it's a panel fault. Will the single line fault get worse? And do you know what could have caused it? As it is now, my laptop is still functioning properly, so I would like to avoid replacing the panel unless it's absolutely necessary.

It can be anything from a manufacturing defect to physical shock that causes delamination of the panel's mask. No way to know.
Dell had a problem with 17" screens 3-4 years ago, but not a common problem of late. It may never progress, or you may see more lines go bad - no way to know.
