High definition audio controller

Is the IDT audio driver installed? If you open the Sound properties and it just says High Definition Audio Device then try installing the IDT driver and see if that helps. When the driver is installed it will say IDT High Definition Audio Codec. N5010 downloads page.

If you already have the driver installed or if re-installing it doesn't help, then the next time the audio controller is disabled, check the Windows Audio Service. If it is off then there might be a problem in Windows instead of with the driver. Go to Start>Run and type "services.msc" (without quotes) then hit the 'Enter' key (or click 'ok'). The Services window will appear. Scroll down until you find "Windows Audio" towards the bottom of the list. It should be enabled, set to automatic, and running.

If that checks out then maybe a BIOS update has a fix for your issue, but I have looked at all of the available revisions and none lists a fix for this. Note that if you attempt a BIOS update and it fails, the motherboard might need to be replaced which is covered only if your warranty has not expired. You are also covered if a Dell employee tells you to attempt the upgrade but I am not one.

Unfortunately it's common for laptops to have problems when coming out of hibernation.
