How do I turn off the touchpad while typing?

Hello,

I just got a Latitude D630, with Vista.  Will someone please tell me how to turn off the touchpad while typing....it drives me nuts.  Event while I'm typing this, my cursor is jumping all over the place.

I used to have a D600 with XP and had no problems with it.

Thanks in advance!

I've got the Dell (Alps) Touchpad utility v 7.1.101.6 loaded.  You should see the little touchpad in the system tray.  In order to disable the touchpad, you need an external mouse.  That's always a handy thing to have with a laptop anyway.
  • Right-click on the icon and select Touchpad Properties.
  • Click on the Device Select / Button Settings
  • At the bottom, check the box "Disable Touchpad / Pointing stick when external USB mouse is present.
  • Click OK

When you have the USB mouse plugged in, it should disable the touchpad.
