It depends on what's underneath. If it's a painted surface, the chances of removing it without damaging the paint are very low.
If it's bare black plastic, gently warm up the label and peel it off. Then use a bit of vegetable oil to dissolve the glue underneath. Don't use any strong detergent or solvent - that may damage the plastic surface.
It's a new Inspiron 15.6" 7000 series. Looks metallic to me but I'm not sure it's really metal. But warming it up sounds good. Maybe with a hair drier. I'll try that and see. Good to know about the alcohol too. I'm going to write Dell too.

I would gently peel the sticker off, then you can use rubbing alcohol or goo gone to get rid of any residue.

Thanks for advice.
