No, there is no manual allocation -- and though the AMD GPU is used when you call on it, bear in mind that ALL video data -- even that processed by the AMD GPU, is funneled through the Intel GPU on its way to the display screen, so you still need the Intel GPU even when the AMD GPU is active.

The AMD GPU has no physical connection to the display panel - only the Intel GPU does.

Hi Shamaal,

Welcome to Dell community!

As correctly said by ejn63, integrated Intel HD graphics card is the primary display adapter. An option to edit the allocated memory for the integrated graphics is unavailable. The system will automatically select integrated graphics or discrete graphics based on the requirement of any particular application. We can also manually assign the graphics card to any application. To manually select the GPU for applications:

  1. Right-click on the desktop and click “Catalyst Control Center”
  2. Under “Power” category, click “Switchable Graphics”
  3. Click “Browse” to choose the desired application
  4. Select the desired graphics processor
  5. There are two options — “Power Saving” (for integrated graphics) and “High Performance” (for discrete graphics)

Do let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanx... But for some games i need more memory(RAM) than the available. If i could reduce the hardware reserved memory (1651) to at least 1024MB I ll be able to play those games without a disturbance. I m using win 7 32bit

Hi Shamaal,

Hardware Reserved memory is reserved for use by the BIOS and some drivers for other peripherals, and not just for the integrated graphics card. Please try the steps mentioned in the following article: http://dell.to/15OkPPc

Do let me know the results.

The Answer is No you cannot do that.  There is no manual allocation of Turbo Trash or HyperJunk or INTEL Integrated DVMT.  The amount of memory is dynamically allocated and de-allocated as needed for 2D/3D graphics system performance. DVMT allocates the proper amount of display, texturing, and buffer memory.

HyperMemory is ATI Technologies' method of using the motherboard's main system RAM
as part of or all of the video card's framebuffer memory.

NVIDIA's TurboCache technology is a method of allowing video cards more available
framebuffer memory by using main system memory.
