How to enable the ethernet card?
How do I enable the ethernet card in my Dell Latitude D600? For some reason it is not enabled and I can not figure out how to enable it so I can use it. If anyone knows how to I would greatly appreciate the response so I will be able to get online to update it for my son.
Thanks,

If you do not see it at all in the control panel, go into the BIOS setup and enable it.
If you DO see it in the control panel, but there's no connection, go to the network applet in the control panel, right click on it and choose Enable.

Does the NIC work when it's plugged into AC or is it just not working when you run the laptop on battery?
If it's working on AC but not battery, use the Dell Quickset utility to enable the internal NIC while on battery. Quickset turns off the internal NIC while on battery by default to save battery power as it assumes you will be using the wireless instead. Under Windows XP this should also be accessable in the Control Panel.
