You need to place a voice call to Dell support. Be prepared to verify you ownership of the system and if the system is out of warranty, with a credit card to pay for the call.
The password is stored in EEPROM. Removing the battery will do nothing.
The only way to reset a lost password is to have Dell generate a master password for your system, and the only way to do that is to call Dell support and verify your ownership of the system.
I did the same thing.Like to never get it resolved.But I did.Restart/as soon as it starts press F 12 select Bios and keep trying until you delete it.Do not put none like I did just delete it.Good Luck.

You need to find and remove the cmos battery. You will need to remove the cover and find it.
