How to update bios without being able yo boot due to heating issues.
Hello everyone, I have a Dell 5548 it has been acting weird after a windows update.
The laptop stays on as long as I stay in login screen, after entering the password, few minutes later the laptop turns off and restarts, I too the cover off and felt the heatsink and it's very got, the fan kicks in when laptop is powered on, and turns off 10 seconds later and turns on just seconds before the laptop shuts off.
Is there any way to update bios without being able to completely boot to test if this fixes my issues?.
Also I cannot boot to any safe mode, I get stuck at Dell logo screen.

Hi CISARISG,
What is the current OS installed on the system?
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. Also, run the extended tests on memory and HDD to check for any possible errors.
Update the BIOS manually - create a bootable USB - http://bit.ly/1mmhOE1 and copy the BIOS file - http://dell.to/1YEJR1g - to it and boot off the USB through f12 bootmenu on startup.
If the issue is unresolved, then restart the system and press f2 to enter BIOS - leave the system in BIOS with the adapter plugged in for as long as possible and check if the system powers off while in BIOS - if the system still turns off automatically, then it might be a hardware issue.
Download the service manual - http://dell.to/2brDK0o- remove and reseat the memory modules and check if the system boots.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Thank you for responding, I think that the issues is not the bios nor the temperature.
I have not found the issue but I think is has something to do with the hard drive, I disabled all the startup programs and the hard drive still runs always at 100%, the laptop freezes for a few seconds and then shuts down,
I want to backup my files and do a clean install but, I cannot backup the files without the laptop being on.
The laptop has Windows 10, 32bit.
Rigth now I'm doing a CHKDSK C: /F /R and it's doing something about incorrect clusters and it's going to take hours to finish, I dont know if it's ok to stop the process.
But the laptop only shuts down after booting, If I stay in the login screen, or the system repair, it stays on for as long as I want, so it may be a HDD issues, some virus or malware, I also noticed at the resources monitor that the "Memory" was over 60% of usage and I remember it said something about error, but I dont quite remember, when this CHKDSK finishes I will check that again.

Hi CISARISG,
Thank you for the update.
Update the BIOS as advised, however, I assume you could do that within windows environment now.
Run the extended diags on the HDD and memory to check for any possible errors.
Keep us updated.

Thanks for your help Rishi, I managed to backup my files connecting the hard drive to a HDD Dock and gave permision to have acces to my files, did a clean install and everything is fine now.
I imagine it was some kind of virus/malware that made the disk fail or work always at 100%.
So far the laptop is running ok. Again, thank your for the help, will keep in mind your advices if I encounter any similar issue.
Sorry for my bad grammar, english is not my main language.
