INSPIRON 14 (3420) RAM UPGRADE -NEED ADVICE-
Hello, I'm WatchingEyes and my parents bought me this laptop while they're on a vacation 2 years ago in Sri-Lanka. The laptop's doing pretty well, it was nice and smooth. Then summer last year, the laptop became cranky/rusty. I've googled what are the possible reasons, and one of the most common reason is that it has low RAM memory. I stopped playing games on it since most of them needs more RAM. Then now these past few months I'm starting to get back on gaming but my laptop can't handle most of these games anymore. I only have 2GB of RAM but my laptop could hold 8GB. I want to upgrade my laptop's RAM Memory. I googled if I could upgrade, ADD rather, a graphics card but I didn't saw anything. I was about to buy a 8GB RAM stick but one of the comment says it won't work, that I need 2 4GB sticks. Now I want to hear it from the professionals or people who know what they're doing. So Please help me with my laptop. I can't really afford a better/gaming laptop since I'm just a student and only have a small part-time job.. I don't know, I've been a good boy but I think santa wrote me on his naughty list ;) Thank you for you time.

Hi WatchingEyes,
Thank you for writing to Dell Community Forum.
Below is the memory configuration supported on Inspiron 3420:
Slot A Slot B Total Memory
2048 MB None 2048 MB
2048 MB 2048 MB 4096 MB
4096 MB None 4096 MB
2048 MB 4096 MB 6144 MB
4096 MB 4096 MB 8192 MB
The optimal performance would be 2 x 4GB memory sticks.
Hope this helps.
Kindest Regards,
