Increasing screen resolution on Inspiron Mini 1012
Have a problem with the screen resolution on my laptop. Wanting to increase it from 1024x600 to 1024x768. Have had the following suggestion:-
Hit Win+R together on your keyboard
Type "regedit" without the quotes in the dialogue box
Locate the following location in registry windows
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4036E 968-E325-IICE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4036E 968-E325-IICE-BFC1-08002BE10318}0001
In both of these locations, find "Display1_DownSealingSupported in the DWORD list
Right-click on the DWORD on select modify, change value from 0 to 1 for that DWORD
Restart your netbook after closing the registry window
Now open screen resolution window [Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution] on your netbook and there you can see more options to choose from. For example, you may choose 1024x768px
Select that resolution and apply the changes.
My problem is that I have already downlowded Windows8 and this solution is for Windows7. Can get as far as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet then when I select control it selects HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control and doesn't give me the required options.
Does anyone have a solution on how I can progress to the next stage and increase the resolution
This probably is a silly question, but I am a computer novice and still sorting out my system

The resolution of the screen is a hardware limit - no amount of software tweaking can change that. If you want more resolution, use an external monitor.
