Inspiron 1440 freezes when it goes into hibernation or sleep mode

I have a new Inspiron 1440 laptop that freezes when it goes into hibernation or sleep mode; the only way to "wake it up" is to hold the power button down and then it comes up with an error message that windows did not properly shut down.   We have to do "shut down" after every use.  Very annoying.  Can anyone help?

Try posting your question on the Laptop General Hardware Board for a better chance at getting an answer specific to your situation.
(This is the Laptop Audio Board.)

I have a similar problem in my ancient Inspiron 1100. I have its power scheme set to "always on" to prevent it from hibernating.
