Recheck your settings in Control Panel, Mouse. There is a setting to hide the pointer when typing. Also check and change the settings in Windows Mobility Center. Touchpad/ Mouse/ touch screen settings can be adjusted easily.
This issue for me was a symptom of a broken trackpad. The curser disappears when using the touchscreen and then reappears when using the trackpad. In my case, the trackpad wasn't working so the curser failed to reappear.
