Inspiron 1501 - Reinstalled XP - Need Correct Drivers

I reformatted my hard drive with the disks that came with my system (purchased new 1.5 years ago) after battling a bad LSASS virus. I cannot connect to the internet at all. I opened the Device Manager and noted that the following drivers are missing: Base System Device, Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, PCI Device, SM Bus Controller, and Video Controller (VGA Compatible). As I cannot connect to the internet and don't have a burner in the PC I am on, I was hoping to download, email to a friend, have him burn them and bring me the CD to load. Which ones are correct to download?

Also, since the install my screen is WAYYY too big. I have played with the settings through the properties but cannot seem to get it to look "normal" (at least normal size). Any ideas?

I am so lost and need this laptop for college. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It would have been simpler to use the quick restore, but you can still download what you need:

support.dell.com

First two to install:  Dell notebook system software and chipset driver.

Then install the audio, video, modem (if present), touchpad, wired, wireless, etc., drivers in any order.

You need at least the notebook system software and chipset driver, plus the network driver to get on the Internet - then you can go download all the others.

For some reason even if you have XP installed some of the correct drivers were under the Vista list for the Inspiron 1501. I ran into this trying to fix my dad's laptop that he reinstalled. He also had the same devices you listed with missing drivers. So far I have found the following are the right ones to use if you are running Windows XP:

Base System Device - R141246

Ethernet Controller - R149798

Network Controller - R151519

SM Bus Controller - R134875

PCI Device - You need to run R171789 first. Afterwards the system will be looking for a driver for a High Definition Audio Bus for which you will need to get R114200. Extract the files and have the system search that folder for the driver.

Video Controller (VGA Compatible) - R168684

Just search for those packages at support.dell.com and run the setup files or update the drivers manually once the files have been extracted. I'm sure it's not the last time someone's going to get hosed by a reisntall.

::UPDATE I HAD IN ANOTHER THREAD::

Install the drivers in order by running the specified executable file for each folder (eg. R123456)  listed below:

 - 1 - Notebook System Software (R134838) - setup.exe

 - 2 - Base System Device (R141246) - DPInst.exe

 - 3 - SM Bus Controller (R134875) - setup.exe

 - 4 - Video Controller (R168684) - issetup.exe

 - 5 - Ethernet Controller (R149798) - setup.exe

 - 6 - PCI Device (R171789) - First run R171789 (setup.exe). Once completed the system will now ask for a driver for a "High Definition Audio Device." This is under R114200 (Setup.exe).

 - 7 - Network Controller - First run R151519 (is.exe) and then run R174291 (is.exe)
