Inspiron 1720 hard disk replacement / upgrade
Hi, I'm replacing my original WD2500BEVS hard disk that is now cactus. The original drive is SATA I, ie. 1.5 Gb/s interface. Can I upgrade to SATA II (3 Gb/s) without any other hardware or software changes? I'm looking at WD7500BPKT as a replacement.
As a matter of interest, Vista would not start but I have recovered most of my files from the damaged disk by booting off a live CD running ubuntu.
