Inspiron 3520 asks for product key for installing microsoft office on windows 8
Hi,
I bought a dell inspiron 3520 recently. It has windows 8 installed. When i try to activate microsoft office, it asks me for product key. My laptop does not have a COA sticked to it and i did not get a MPI card with the package delivered where this info is available. Please suggest me a way to findout product key and activate microsoft office.

There is no Office 2012 -- there was an Office 2010, and is an Office 2013, but if it's pre-installed, it requires the purchase of a license key. If you purchased Office, the system will have come with a card containing the product key for the version of Office you purchased, and will appear on your system invoice as a separate charge.

Hi Muqthi,
Welcome to the Community.
Please provide the following details:
1. Did you buy office from Dell or Microsoft?
2. Did you get office preinstalled on the computer?
I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.
I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and name listed on the account so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.
Thanks & Regards
Manshu S

Office does not come with Windows 8. You must order it and pay extra to receive the product key. Office that is installed on new computers is a link to purchase the Office Suite or activate if you received the activation key you paid for. The key is on a card tucked away in the styrofoam in the box. If you did spend $199 or more extra to buy Office, search the box for the card.

You need to purchase the product - the copy that ships with the system is only a trial.
There are many places to buy - amazon.com is among the least expensive.

Office Preinstalled is not the same as Office Trial. Preinstalled office comes with a Key Card.
You can download office 2007 to the latest version directly from microsoft if you have the key.

If you purchased Office with the system, it will have come with a key. The pre-installed version is a trial - you can use it for a limited time, but must purchase a license key if you want to use it. Office is not standard - you must purchase it at extra cost.

Office is installed on the system whether you purchased it or not. If you purchased it (it'll appear as a separate charge on the invoice), there will be a card with a product key on it that shipped with the system.
