Inspiron 5759 Touchpad issues
My 5759 purchased in late April 2016 has to nagging issues.
1. Overall sensitivity is far too touchy. Sometimes it seems if I just hover over it, it will react. Additionally, if I'm viewing a video and pause it and place the notebook on the side to get out of my chair, the video restarts as if I touched the pad. Nothing in the (Windows 10) driver provides any way to adjust sensitivity.
2. Just recently, the left-click area has started to stick in the down position. I've never spilled anything on the keyboard or touchpad and don't know what is causing this or how to fix it. Hopefully it can be addressed before warranty runs out.
Ideas or suggestions are most welcome?

Hi Baward,
You can try updating the BIOS firmware and the touchpad drivers. That should ideally fix the issue with the touch pad. If the issue still persists, please try using an external mouse and then disabling the touchpad and if the video's auto resume.

I updated the BIOS and touchpad drivers and they had no impact on the issues I'm experiencing. There is still no way to adjust touchpad sensitivity, and it the laptop still misbehaves when I place the laptop on it's side (paused videos restart).
Adding and external mouse defeats the use of the laptop when I use it on my lap.
Pretty disappointed with this aspect of this Dell laptop.

Do you have an touchscreen LCD, if so using an external mouse will eliminate the chances of the touchcreen acting on its own accord as well. You can try it with the external mouse if possible and let me know if it works.

No touchscreen. The touchPAD is what is acting up.
As previously stated, using an external mouse is a poor workaround when you want to use the laptop ON YOUR LAP!
The new touchpad is worse that the old models. Engineering went the wrong direction with this design where there is no way to adjust sensitivity. Additionally, I'm not sure what is causing the left-click to occasionally lock up in the down position.

Thank you for confirming that it is not a touchscreen. Is is possible to share an image of the touchpad settings. Also do you get a notification tray icon for the touchpad. It would be helpful if you can send me a private message with the service tag of the computer so that I can check what touchpad went with the computer, or you can share the same from the device manager window.

I think the problem is that even though I've downloaded and installed the most recent DELL touchpad driver (Input_Driver_KXG38_WN32_19.0.15.2_A01.EXE for Synaptics), the system shows the mouse driver as mouclass.sys and mouhid.sys.
When I drive down into the system configuration at support.dell.com I see this under the Original Configuration:
However when I drill down into Current Conifguration is shows the following:

Ideally it should just show as Dell Touchpad. You could try uninstalling and deleting the drivers and then trying to install the version of drivers for windows 8.1 in compatibility mode. However, version of the driver remains the same. More over you can try the steps below to adjust the settings on synaptics touchpad from this link : www.dell.com/.../en

Adding to that, please delete the message with the service tag. as it contains secure information. If you need to message me privately. Please hover the mouse over my name and it would give you an option to send a private message.

Spent about 3 hours on the phone with two Dell support agents and no resolution to the probem was found. No matter what we tried, we never could get the Synaptics driver to override the two HID and PS/2 drivers. I'm convinced that there is no way to adjust sensitivity for "precision" touchpads.
I think the issue where tipping the laptop on it's side creates a left click is a hardware issue, but I can't see sending it off to a depot for 12 to 20 days for service. I'll just have to live with it. I may check out the service manual to see if I can check for any loose wires that might be causing the problem.

As the technical support team suggested, resetting the computer to the factory settings might get the sensitivity and the right driver back. However, regarding the left touchpad button, i would recommend getting it sent to the depot while the system is in warranty.

I've already been through one factory reset with this machine, and I"m not about to go through another one if I can avoid it. Took me about a week to get everything back to normal. Not fun!
I'll reconsider shipping off to a depot if the intermittant touch pad sticking situation gets worse.

I am having exactly the same problem, the left touchpad button keeps sticking. Also, the pad is very over sensitive....
