Inspiron N5050 BIOS upgrade via USB - Error code 2000-0142

This weekend I tried updating  my Windows 7 Inspiron N5050 to Windows 10.  I went through the check and it said my computer would be fine upgrading.  Once upgraded I could not get past the loading screen with the new windows 10 icon, it will show just a blank screen.  I hit F2 and went into setup and received the error code 2000-0142 on the health check.  Which I looked up and it is a hard drive or bios issue.  I did notice that my Bios version is A03, which is not the newest version.  I downloaded the exe for the A05 bios version file on another machine, but need a way to install from booting from USB flash drive.  Could anyone tell me how I can update the bios from a usb drive?  Any help would be greatly appreciated or other ideas for resolving the issue.

You cannot update the bios unless you can boot the computer to windows. You also cannot update the bios if the hard drive is failing. Replace the hard drive if you still get errors after running the hard drive extended test diagnostics not just the quick test you already ran.

BTW your computer model is not a good candidate for windows 10. Dell recommends not upgrading the N5050 to 10. Lots of problems with win 10 on that model have been reported in the forums. Reinstall windows 7 if you replace the hard drive and even if you don't have to replace the drive. Get 10 on your next computer.

How do I get Windows 7 back on the laptop once I replace the hard drive?
