Inspiron n5010 Touch Pad Problem
The touch pad on this laptop is very awkward to use. When trying to vertically scroll using the far right edge it wont work with the tip of my finger, instead I have to increase the contact area of my finger by changing the angle to an uncomfortable degree. Is there a way of decreasing the contact area so I can use the tip of my finger.
Also, the scroll is all or nothing; is there a way to adjust the speed.
Also, on my old Vostro 1510, I could remove my finger momentarily whilst moving a file or high lighting and then continue the move or high light. This facility appears to have gone, is there a way to bring it back within the current application or is it a driver issue.

Hi Everest1
Welcome to the Community. Yes there is a way you can decrease the contact area around your scroll. Click on Start, click on Control Panel, click on Mouse, click on Dell touchpad, click on the touchpad image, click on Single Finger Gestures, under Scroll Zone Width select narrow, click on Apply and OK.
Hope this helps.
Thank you

Your trackpad and operating system supports multi-touch. You can use two fingers on the track pad to scroll horizontally or vertically.
Check the other multi-touch commands in Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Mouse > Device Settings > Settings.
When moving a file or highlighting, you can move your finger to the very edge of the trackpad and hold it there and the cursor will continue to scroll slowly. This can also be adjusted in the above location under Pointing > Edge Motion.
