Integrated webcam driver won't install

I have a Studio 1737 running Windows Vista.  I have attempted to install various different Creative Labs webcam drivers to include the disk that came with the computer with no success.  They get to 90% and then say there was an error.  I have tried pretty much everything I can think of and reluctantly call tech support where they proceeded to tell me that it would take a minimum of $129.00 for help with this one little thing.  I think you can all guess how the rest of that conversation went.  I have searched forum after forum and nothing has worked.  If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks

Hi

Its strange that the soft throws an error during installation.

Could you help me with that error ?

If possible a screen shot would be better.

You need to uninstall the driver first

check in programs and features and see if there is a creative webcam applications or dell webcam central.

Then go to device manager, if the integrated camera is installed as shown then u can use the same with any messenger and u dont require a driver.

If there is a yellow exclamation mark or an unknown device and there is no imaging devices then install the driver from the links below.

joshc483,

Did you recently reinstall the operating system? If so, did you install the notebook utility and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order These drivers control attached devices, like the webcam, USB Ports, wireless cards, etc.

Your Dell Studio should have come with a Dell Webcam Central Software Disk(black). If installing the webcam on a 64-bit system, try the Webcam instructions I made when I had my Studio 1737.

Ok I installed the chipset driver first, but only by chance since it was the first on the disk.  All the drivers except the webcam one installed correctly.  The only thing that shows  up under imaging devices is facap, fastaccess Video Capture, but that is because of the facial recognition software.  I installed the downloads recommended in the previous post, but it was not helpful.  I already had dell webcam central.

You already have Dell webcam central installed ?

You need to uninstall it and retry.

Is the fast access able to use the webcam ?
