So the issue was in external video card. Only after the purchase of the new SDD, I noticed that I am getting BSOD every time any reference to the external video card, for example, when installing the drivers. This explains everything. Temporarily fixed the problem by disabling the video card.
Given the age of the system and hard disk drive, I would trust the diagnostics that it is failing. Perhaps it is intermittently failing which is why it worked in her system. Unknown. Was your mother's laptop also a Dell? If yes, did you run the ePSA/PSA diagnostics on her system with that hard disk drive installed in it?

The system is 5 years old. Same as hdd.
The mother's laptop is Asus and I couldn't find any build-in diagnostics in it.
