Do you mean the Dell Recovery & Restore (KeyInTheCloud) application? I do not see any reference to smart errors in its documentation. Have you replicated the issue on another system?

Given that the KeyInCloud is specific to that service tag, to answer your question. I haven't taken the time to generate a second key and download the generated bundle, to have to extract in 7Zip (because it errors in Windows Explorer (see separate posts about extraction errors)) to test.

What would be better is if there was logging internal to the app so that it could log to the mounted USB drive that backups are written to.

As I noted above: Great Idea but not ready for Prime Time.

I got an XPS 13 9350, used KeyIncloud to recover but got the message "Cannot get Smart status. Failed to repair boot files".

Please help me to solve the issue. Thanks a lot.

I am having the same problem with a E7240 with Samsung SSD.  Did you manage to resolve the issue?

Same issue on XPS 13 9350. "Cannot get SMART status."
