Keyboard / Scroll Bar Help

Hi everybody,

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop, and I've been experiencing some problems for the past few weeks.

1. Constantly as I type (it's happened 8 times since I've started writing this post) my "blinking line which shows where I'm typing" moves to a random spot in my text. For example, what I'm currently writing would all be written between "Dell" and "Inspiron" in my first paragraph until I notice it and put it back down here.

2. My scroll bar on the right of my built-in mouse pad (under the space bar) doesn't work anymore. I'm referring to the scroll bar that let's me quickly scroll down a lengthy webpage or document.

If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it SOOO much! Thanks in advance ... it's been so hard writing this post since Problem #1 has occured nearly 30 times!

Do you have a small icon on your tray bar (lower-right corner, next to the clock) that looks like your touch pad and turns blue when you use the touch pad? If you don't then that's why the scroll bar isn't working any more.

To activate it go to Program Files and look for a folder that sais "Alps...something". You'll find the .exe file in there.

You also need to have the driver for the touch pad installed. You can find that here.

THANKS!!

For some reason I can't find the "alps" folder, but I downloaded that driver and now the touchpad works (and I now have the icon on the bottom right).  Thanks again for your help!!

Any ideas on Problem #1?
