Keyboard issue similar to 'ghosting'

I have been having an issue with my keyboard. I am unable to use the a, 5, 6, g, h, and ` buttons while the w button is pressed. This issue has only come up over the past couple of days. My laptop is capable of these combinations.

I have an Alienware m14x. Any help would be appreciated.

One other weird thing is going on. If I hold w and d down (they work together) and switch my finger to a, it continues to work but a acts as if it is d.

I can do the same with other buttons too. Replace d in the last paragraph with any other working button.

Hi oland138,

Please check the mapping of the key combination. To check that go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Keyboard. Also try adjusting character repeat rate.

I don't know where to find this 'mapping of the key combination'. I'm using windows 8, and I don't see any reference to that in there. And adjusting the character repeat rate is doing nothing.

Hi oland138,

My apologies for late reply.

Please go to Control Panel, Select Small Icons from the drop down list next View By.  Double click Region and Language and navigate to Keyboard and Languages tab request you to  delete all the languages and keep only English United States. Click Apply and Ok.

Next click on Easy to Access in Control Panel Window and then click Make Keyboard easier to use. Explore in this windows to check if appropriate options are checked for the Keyboard functionality.

Revert for further queries.
