2 things.

1)  this is a USER forum, Dell does not monitor this forum for support.  That's why its here, its SELF HELP.  We are users just like you, and we are trying to help you.  You want Dell Assistance, you have to CALL them.

2) USB that you bought separate from the original device, is NOT, I repeat *NOT* a hardware issue.  Its software issue.

That being said, the USB is not failing, the driver for it is not found.  Lexar has very good driver support.. they may have a fix for it on THEIR site,  have you tried that?

Lexar insists that the driver is within the operating system and provides no additional drivers for USB Drives. Thanks for the advice anyway.

I have had the same incompatibility problem with a Micron PC running Windows 2000. The Jump Drive works fine on my Dell at home running XP but not the Micron. It recognizes the drive but then I get some sort of hardware error. I suspect it is either a Windows 2000 problem or a Micron problem.
