Laptop Screen problems. Not sure whether it is a dead pixel.

Okay, So I bought this Dell inspiron 15 3521 on 28th of February, 2014. So the issue is, my screen has got black spots. But the thing is, those black points or dots turn into a shiny white bright dots, when the laptop screen is subjected to top view or side view. From the front, it looks black. I tried taking pictures, but no camera was capable to capture those 1x1 sized black dots. Please help me identify if it is a dead pixel. or let me know how should I identify whether it is a dead pixel or something else.

Greetings SwarupMondal,

Thanks for posting your question on the Dell Community Forum.

There's a quick way to tell if the problem is with the LCD itself. It's call the LCD BIST test.

"To run the LCD BIST (Built in Self-test) Press and hold the D key on the keyboard while pressing the power button, then release both at the same time.

This will initiate A grey screen, then Red, then Blue, then Green then White, to allow you to inspect the entire LCD for color purity on each screen and to better identify defect such as cracks in the LCD or stuck pixels that may not be apparent in a normal viewing mode."

If you see the same issue within the LCD BIST test, please add me as a friend and PM your first/last name, email address and service tag. We'll see about getting the hardware replaced.
