Laptop restarts when I unplug
My laptop (about 1 year old) has just recently been having a problem.
It restarts when I unplug it from the power (either from wall or laptop itself).
It doesn't do it every time, I unplug my laptop twice a day and sometimes it will restart both time/sometimes neither time/sometimes one time.
What happens is I unplug and the screen turns black, then a blue screen full of numbers/letters (I can't see it long enough to read it) and then it restarts.
I did see the word software last time but nothing else.
This is a recent thing (last 2-3 weeks) never happened before.
It does it when unplugged from both places I plug it in (main floor & basement) so it can't be the socket.
The battery works fine on it's own.
Can anyone tell me what this can be and how to fix it?
Thanks,
Jessica

Are you unplugging the laptop while it is still running? That is not a very safe practice so far as your data is concerned. When used on the AC adapter, the laptop is powered from the adapter and the battery is charged via a separate circuit. When you disconnect, the circuits that handle charging and routing the battery power to the laptop must make a switch from charging the battery to supplying battery power to the laptop main circuit board. When this occurs, power can be momentarily disconnected, and this can cause a reset to be issued to the processor. A reset tells the computer to re-initialize, basically rebooting the system. If your computer is writing anything to the hard drive when this happens your hard drive can become corrupted, requiring a re-installation of your operating system and all applications.
I recommend that the AC adapter be connected or disconnected only while the computer is off.

So every time I want to move my laptop I have to turn it off and then turn it back on a few minutes later?
