Laptop won't turn on - switches off after the first screen.
My Inspiron 3420 one day suddenly stopped working. Either it won't turn on at all or if it did, there'd be a click, the first screen would come on and then it'd shut down. My friend got it to work by pressing F2 and then some setup thing but after working for a while it'd reboot automatically or shut down. Now my friend is gone and I can't get it to work. What's the problem and is it fixable or is my laptop done for?
Thanks!

Please try to run Diagnostic Tool to check hardware on the system:
1. Power off system and then disconnect all peripherals - Printer, external drive, flash drive, etc...)
2. Power on system, quickly start tapping F12 key continuously. In the boot menu, stroll down to Diagnostic and click on it. After quick tests, click on hard drive, and then 'Thorough Test Mode. Report back any error code.

If there no error codes, I suggest Reset the BIOS to Default Values

Lastly:
Power off system. Remove the AC adapter and battery. Press 'Power On' button for 15 second to release Status Flea Power. Replace battery, adapter and then power on system. Hopefully system works normally.
