Latitude 3540 - Adding Memory
I have a Latitude 3540 with 4GB RAM (1 stick). As I understand it, I think it's DDR3L memory (low voltage).
I have a 4GB DDR3 stick from an older Lenovo laptop. When I plug it into the Dell 3540, it's not recognized at all. It just shows as 4GB RAM after I boot up. I tried a 2GB also and same thing.
Can I not mix DDR3L and DDR3 in this Latitude?
The markings on the Lenvo RAM module are:
Samsung
4GB 2Rx8 PC3-12800S-11-11-F3
M471B5273DH0-CK0 1220
Why doesn't this work in my 3540?

Most of the older Core i CPUs could use DDR-3 or -3L. The new Haswell (and forthcoming Broadwell) require DDR3L -- they will not work with DDR-3.
