Latitude D505 Screen Resolution Problem

I have a user who has a D505 running specialised apps that require the screen resolution to be 1280 x 1024.  I've tried installing the display drivers provided by Dell but am unable to get any bigger than 1024 x 768.

Can anyone tell me if the onboard graphics card is capapble of achieving the resolution I need (Intel 830M/855GM)...

Thanks in advance

I can tell you my D505 with a M992 external monitor can run at that resolution and even 1600x1200. I know the LCD is 1400x1050 so I don't know if the bare laptop can do 1280x1024. I don't know off the top of my head if the port replicator is affecting that.

Thanks for the quick reply

I have been able to increase the resolution with the laptop plugged into a monitor but my user requires the increased resolution on the laptop itself, which so far I've been unable to do.

After spending days going round in circles with this I've achieved nothing but a headache....

My user is adamant he has a laptop of the exact same spec that he's managed to get the desired resolution on but I've been unable to get a hold of it to have a look.

Any suggestions??

An LCD can not display a resolution higher the its pixel count, if you purchased these with an XGA screen 1024X768 then that's the max resolution you can achieve on the LCD.

Thanks for letting me know, I can now go back to my User and explain that the resolution he needs isn't possible on this particular laptop.

Thanks again for the help guys
