Latitude D610 Screen Resolution

Okay.  I don't know if this is the best place for this problem,  but I'm a little stupid when it comes to computers so bear with me.  (Consequently, if anyone answers this, please break your answer down as much as possible, thanks!)  I'm not having a problem so much with my computer as with a particular software not interacting well.  I'm working with that company too, but my dad suggested I check here as someone may have had a similar problem.  Basically, I can't see the entire screen of this software (and as a result am unable to use it).  When I contacted the software company they suggested that I change my resolution to 1024 x 768.  That did nothing but I started experimenting with other resolutions and found that 800 x 600 helped but I still can't access the entire screen.  (And I've tried seeing if there were any arrows to make the screen bigger, etc but it's all to no avail).  Anyways, if anyone has any ideas about how to make the software work, I'd appreciate them.  Thanks!

Had the screen resolution been 1400x1050 before you changed it?

As far as I know, D610's could be equipped with that or 1024x768
and you are usually better to run at your "Native" Resolution.

Go to that same Display Properties, Settings Tab that you used
to change resolutions and press the Advanced button.

On the first tab (General) you will see DPI setting:
Dell often sets this to 120dpi on High Resolution
screens, like 1400x1050 and this can cause problems
with a lot of programs.

Reset it to "Normal size" (96dpi) and reboot for it to take
effect, (by the way, using "custom setting" you can use the
slide ruler to set it anywhere from 20-500% of "Normal") But
try just 96dpi.

After re-booting computer, you may want to go back and set
resolution to 1400x1050.

There also may be a setting in BIOS Setup (press F2 on first
screen of bootup) to expand lower resolutions like 800x600
to fill the screen, but if you did not see 'black borders'
around your 800x600, it is set already.
