Some applications require hardware virtualization - others don't. For those that do require it, it must be enabled in BIOS setup for it to function properly.

Applications like what? I am just using Windows, antivirus, Office, Photoshop, Adobe Reader.

VMware is one application that requires hardware virtualization - ordinary desktop application such as those you've listed, do not.
