Latitude E4310 Keyboard Cursor Jumping Problem
I have a one month old Latitude E4310 running Wlindows 7 Professional. While typing "normally" or by my two index fingers (hunt and peck) so my wrists don't rest on the machine. The cursor while typing mid-sentance will jump to another part of the page in the middle of the sentance. This started about two weeks into owning the machine and is getting worse. Just typing this note the cursor has jumped four times into the middle of another sentance. I am not using a mouse, no part of my hands are touching the touchpad. Is there a fix? Or do I have a bad keyboard? Thanks.

With some pads, you don't need to touch the pad, just get close, to cause this. You can try to adjust parameters in the pad control panel, but the easies answer is to install TouchFreeze. This utility shuts down the pad when you begin to type. If it doesn't work with your pad, search the web for similar programs including you pad manufacturer in the search.

I have the same problem when using word or email in outlook.
I have connected an external mouse and disabled the pad, but the problem remains. I have also disabled auto spelling.
Still it jumps around while typeing and it does not matter how careful I am. It cannot figure out a pattern, but it seems like when it jumps it jumps to the same position in the text again and again.
Should I send my lap for repair? It is a brand new latitude E6410.

I have the same issue with a two month old model and it just randomly jumps out of the application or document I am in for no apparent reason and will sometimes jump back in again after i have inadvertently typed a bunch of text. This is a very frustrating issue as you cannot trust that your documents contain everything you have just input. It will even occasionally close the application unexpectedly. This appears generally in Mocrosoft applications, Office 2010. I am running Windows 7 Pro. Would love to hear the answer for this as I have seen this computer being trashed on several websites for just this issue with the touchpad frequently to blame. However I have this problem with remote keyboards (including both wireless and hard wired stock Dell models).

Pleas ad link, Kirkd, I did not find it.
My solution to the problem is to never write documents on my laptop. Works great!

Just search for touchfreeze in browser. It should be the first item.
