Latitude E6420 - Master Bios Problem
Hi everyone!
I just bought a new Dell E6420. While I was installing the computer with Windows 7 (in Sysprep mode), I played a little bit with the "Dell Data Protection - Access" software. Out of nowhere, it put an "Admin" password for the bios while booting. Problem is, when the computer is in sysprep mode, the end-user don't know the "Administrator" password, so I don't know the password that was put in the bios.
I searched the net and heard about the "Master Bios Password", so I called Dell to have it. Problem is, it don't works!
My service tag look like : XXXXXXX-1D3B
They gave me a very long password, with numbers, letters (caps and non-caps).
Is tehre any think special I must do to enter this password? Like ussing the "key pad" with the FN key to enter the password? Must I press a special ombinaison of some keys to reset the password? Dell is supposed to send me a new motherboard, but I would prefer to have my computer working today. I can't wait 4 days for that.
Thanks again for your time!

Ok. This time I asked for the password by chat... and it was good. The guy on the phone didn't gave me the correct uppercas/lowercaser for one of the character.
Thread close :)

In warranty, no charge. Out of warranty, there will be a support call charge.
