Latitude E6530 USB 3.0 Windows 8 problems
Hello,
The left USB 3.0 on my Latitude E6530 does not work when I connect a USB 3.0 device to it. If I plug a USB 3.0 device into it after Windows has started, it does not recognize anything being connected in that port. If I connect a USB 3.0 device to that port before powering the system on, Windows will recognize the device after it starts (it will mount an external hard drive, for example) but will immediately report there was error loading it. That port usually does recognize USB 2.0 devices without problems.
All of the other USB ports work fine. I can plug USB 3.0 devices into the right USB 3.0 port, and they work. I can plug USB 3.0 devices in to either of the USB 2.0 ports, and they function as USB 2.0 devices, as expected.
I'm running Windows 8 Pro.
Is this likely a driver problem or a hardware problem?
Thank you.

I have the Latitude e6530 with the docking station and NONE of my USB 3.0 ports act like 3.0.
But I'm happy to say it's fixed now! :)
I had the latest "Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver" downloaded from Dell's site and Device manager reports no problems - yet every time I pluged a USB 3.0 device into any of my "SS" USB 3.0 ports I am greeted with the "This device could perform much faster..." message from my systray. :(
I downloaded USBTreeView (freeware) and when I connect a device I see it connects to a USB 2.0 hub port. None of the 3.0 ports under my "Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver" were ever used. :(
But this thread fixed my problem. The Problem is the latest "Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver" driver on Dell's site is almost a year older than the latest from Intel. Thanks JeanPier - your post pointed me here:
en.community.dell.com/.../20503380
...which lead me here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=21129
Download Intel's latest version of the host controller, install it (unzip & run setup.exe), reboot, and your problems will be resolved...!
Cheers!

Hi!
I have a similar issue with my Latitude E6530.
I have an external USB2.0 harddrive connected to the right USB3 port. Every time i put the laptop into hibernation or sleep and wake the laptop up again the harddrive is not recognized on that right port. If i put a USB2.0 Memory stick in it works.
I also just tried to plug it into the left USB 3.0 port and the drive comes up again, but nothing on the right one where it was originally. I can unplug and plug it in as many times as i want it does not get recognized.
The Laptop runs Windows 7 Pro.
Seems very similar to the issue above.
Is this a known issue and are there any fixes with drivers or is this a hardware issue ?

The problem persists for me, and I still haven't found any solutions.

Of course im writing this after I tinkered with the BIOS and was still waiting for the computer to boot.
It sees it now, though I am not sure what I changed in BIOS (i changed quite a few things)
See if messing with settings in the BIOS helps (i know i enabled the usb power share feature)

Got the same issue here, Latitude e6430s, updated all drivers/BIOS but the USB 3.0 port still won't see 3.0 devices.

My USB buss on my 6520 works for a while, then after a while, it will blow everything off and the keyboard starts flashing and the mouse freezes and I have to reboot. This is a work machine. It stays at work. I have all the dell updates with their software that goes out to check for new updates every time I reboot. I have miscrosoft updates.. And still, yesterday at work, it flipped out, disconnected my mouse and keyboard and the keyboard lights starts flashing and I have to reboot. And the IT department at this place where I work SUCKS!

If you have an Intel i-5 2nd generation processor try updating this driver from the Intel site: Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller: 1.0.10.255
For the longest time I couldn't have the external WD Passport working as a USB3. I was getting 27M/sec transfer rate as the HD was running like connected to a USB 2 port. After doing the update above I get 100+ M/sec transfer rate.
I read all the forums I could find about this subject and couldn't resolve this issue. It is now resolved thanks to Chris M who wrote this article: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/f/3529/p/19540719/20503380.aspx

I am having the same issue with my Inspiron 15z 5523, I connect the USB mouse in that left USB PowerShare Port and it works fine but sometimes from time to time a message pops up saying USB device malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it and mouse stop moving.
I have to unplug it and plug it again to work again, should I use the mouse in another USB Port and leave this port without connecting anything to it?

Looks like the driver you recommended is working. Thanks for your info.
