Latitude Recovery Partitions: can I delete them?

Hi,

I bought a Latitude E6530 (with Windows 8) some months ago.

I use Ubuntu Linux so I would like to re-partitioning the entire hard disk.

Using a GParted (a fdisk tool) I see 4 partitions which I don't know the purpose:

  1. ESP: with 'boot' flag, mounted on /boot/efi. Size: 500 MB
  2. DIAGS: with 'hidden' flags. Size: 40 MB
  3. WINRETOOLS: with 'hidden, diag' flags. Size: 500 MB.
  4. PBR IMAGE: with 'hidden, diag' flags. Size: 6 GB. I think this is the Windows 8 recovery partition.
Can I delete all the partitions (I also bought the Restore DVD from Dell store) without problems?
Thanks
Matteo

Partition 1 needs to stay if you plan to keep the system in UEFI mode -- if you plan on booting in BIOS/legacy mode, it can be deleted.

You should keep the second partition - the Dell diagnostics.

The others can go, assuming you either never plan to go back to Windows, or have made the recovery DVDs or flash drive.
