Latitude e4300 + Windows 7 Ent. = Missing Broadcom USH and Base System Device Drivers
Just received our 1st batch of Latitude e4300 laptops and had them shipped with XP bc the plan was to build our own custom Windows 7 images to deploy on these laptops. I have downloaded all of the drivers for this model of laptop from the Dell site spcifically for the Windows 7 32 bit OS but the Chipset drivers fails with the error "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software." In Device Manager I am missing drivers for a "Base System Device" and a "Broadcom USH" device.
Dell will not support me through this bc it was not the OS we bought it with and they only support hardware issue's OR I can pay them to tell me how to fix it! What a bunch of garbage IMHO... Anyway, bc they ship the dang things with Windows 7 they must have encountered the same issue's and have them resolved but I cannot find any information on how to get this fixed.
Can someone please help me get this resolved... I refuse to pay Dell for them to tell me how to do it especially will all the money we just dumped on new hardware from them. Thanks Dell for supporting your "valued" customers.

I just had this happen to me. You need the drivers for the Ricoh Card Reader R230630 and Dell ControlPoint Security Device Driver Pack Driver R243252. Hope that helps.

Thats the ticket... thank you my friend!
For those encountering the same issue you can find the missing drivers (see previous post) for "Broadcom USH" and "Base System Device" by clicking the All Latitude E4300 (58 files) tab to view the complete list.... Why these would not be included in the required list? Only Dell knows why!

Hello Junior,
Have you checked compatibility?
Just an FYI for you.
It is always best to check with the software manufacturer FIRST. They will tell you if they have tested the product and the version, as well as whether or not it will work with Windows 7.
Check out the Windows 7 Compatibility site: (There you will find out about hardware and software compatibilty.)
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/en-us/default.aspx
There is a pulldown from which you can choose "hardware" and "software".
There are also some great articles, instructional videos and such to help with your Windows 7 at our Springboard site:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/default.aspx
In any event a lot of the times, Vista drivers will work in lieu of Windows 7 drivers, however, it's not 100%!
As stated previously, it's best to have the Windows 7 certified drivers installed.
Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assitance and support.
Thanks again,
John M.
